The Great Commission - Share the Gospel (Mark 5:20)
Mark 5:20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.
That man was once possessed and tormented by two thousand demons, then he was saved and released by the Lord. It is mentioned that he begged to be with Jesus, but Jesus refused, but told him to go to his relatives and tell them the great things that lived in him.
From the things discussed above, we can see that the Lord has the same commission for every saved person; to go back to our home, relatives, friends, colleagues, and classmates to testify how great He has done in us ------How to change us, how to save us from the power of Satan and the bondage of sin, and testify how to obtain the peace and joy of salvation. For this reason, if we have been saved for a long time, but have not preached the gospel to our family members to testify to the Lord’s deeds, then we are in debt to the Lord’s entrustment, and we also owe our family a “gospel debt.”
Some people may think that they are not equipped enough to spread the gospel. Although we need to be equipped and trained, the Lord entrusts us to start with our own testimony. It is our duty to bear witness to the Lord's deeds. At that time, the man not only went to his home, relatives and friends according to the Lord's commission, but also preached in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him. Although everyone did not believe in the Lord because of this, as the scriptures say: "All the people were amazed." But he still faithfully proclaimed and testified the name of the Lord. This is really our example. Today when we preach the gospel, even if it is ineffective, we should be faithful to the Lord's commission.
Besides, the man in the past was able to faithfully spread it because he knew and experienced what the Lord had done to him [what a great thing]. Today, unless we do not feel the greatness and grace of the salvation we have received, we should all faithfully bear witness to the name of the Lord. Let me ask, how do you respond to the Lord’s commission?
