Committed and connected

‘So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.’ Romans 12:5 NKJV The Bible describes the Christian life in war terms: fight, conquer, strive, battle, overcome, and victory. Whether you realise it or not, you’re in a spiritual battle, and you need support and backup. When you became a Christian, you became a member of God’s army. Imagine you go to a recruiting office to join the Army. They say, ‘Wonderful, sign here.’ You say: ‘Wait! I have one condition. I don’t want to be committed to any particular platoon . I want to be able to float around. I’ll be part of the Army, but I don’t want to be committed to a certain group of soldiers . If the battle gets too hot in one area, I’ll move to another area and join another platoon. And if I dislike one platoon’s leadership, I’ll join another.’ Would you want a person like that fighting by your side? Of course, you wouldn’t! But that’s how many Christians today relate to God’s army. They float around from ...

Why Believe the Bible? Day 1 Devotion

Why Believe The Bible?  “Why do you believe the Bible?” the skeptic asks. “Because it’s God’s Word,” the Christian replies. “Says who?” the skeptic responds. “Says the Bible,” the Christian answers. Hmm . . . You can see why the logic that Christians love might not persuade a skeptical friend. The reasoning seems as unpersuasive as the parent who responds to their kid’s question with, “Because I said so!” Thankfully, there are powerful arguments to back up our belief in the Bible. One of my favorites is how the Old Testament prophets knew what the New Testament apostles saw. Take Isaiah, for example. Isaiah knew that God’s chosen Messiah would be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7). He knew that the Christ would come from the family of King David (Isaiah 11). He knew that the Savior would be pierced for sins, suffer silently, be buried with the rich, and see the light of life again (Isaiah 53). How in the world did Isaiah, living seven hundred years before the birth of Jesus, know all that...

Spiritual Food! From Mani

Part 1 It is we who are cursed and have the eternal condemnation due to sin but Jesus Christ loved us so much that He willingly became a curse for the sake of our sins which He took upon himself and died on the cross, was buried, rose from the dead and after forty days of His resurrection,  He was taken up alive to be at the right of the Almighty. Jesus Christ died for our sins on the cross so that we might receive the forgiveness of sins and the eternal life freely.  Jesus Christ forgave my sins and has given me the eternal life.  Have your sins been forgiven?  Have you received the eternal life? Part 2 The fact is Jesus Christ the eternal God-Man is alive and seated at the right hand of the Almighty. He listens to our prayer and is going to come again to judge the living and the dead including you. Will you face the judgement because of sin or escape it by receiving the forgiveness of sins in the name of Jesus Christ?  God cannot be cursed or become a curse bu...

How can I effectively do my daily devotion?

Image
How to make your time count: Psalms 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.  Pause and take a deep breath. As you do so, reflect on last year. What has God done in your life since Easter 2020? When you’re in the middle of a long season, it can be easy to forget what God is doing in the midst of your circumstances. That’s one of the reasons why reflecting on God’s Word is so important: it helps us slow down and remember that God is faithful in every season of life. As you prepare for Resurrection Sunday, spend some intentional time reflecting on God’s faithfulness by studying the Verse of the Day. Here are 3 ways you can do that: If you have 5 minutes… Open your Bible App, and look for the Verse of the Day. Before you start reading, ask God to make you aware of anything He wants to show you. Then, read through the verse slowly, paying close at...

Being renew Day by Day 1/1

Image
1/1 Being renew Day by Day Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. [2Corinthians4:16] There are many Christians ignore the importance of "Daily Devotion", Daily Devotion is spending time with God, read His words and pray to Him. There is one lesson that all young Christians should learn, and that is the absolute necessity of fellowship with Jesus each day. This lesson of "Daily Devotion" is not always taught at the beginning of the Christian life, nor does the new convert always understand it. He should realize that the grace he has received- The forgiveness of his sins, his acceptance as God's child, his joy in the Holy Spirit- can only be preserved by daily renewal in fellowship with Jesus Christ Himself. Many Christians backslide because this truth is not clearly taught. They are unable to stand against the temptations of the world and of their old nature. They strive to do their bes...

Why do we have to Pray?

Image
Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.  One of the most contradictory situations in the Christian faith is that although God knows everything, he wants us to bring all the big and small things in life to him and talk to him. Since he knows everything, why do we still have to pray? If you have this kind of confusion, perhaps the nineteenth-century preacher Reuben ArcherTorrey can help you to understand. He thinks the reasons for praying are as follows: Because of the existence of the devil, prayer is a method designated by God to resist the devil (Ephesians 6:12-13,18). Because prayer is the way that God allows us to ask and seek him (Luke 11:3-13; James 4:2). Because prayer is the way that God specifically wants us to "receive mercy, favor, and help at any time" (Hebrews 4:16). Because the prayer of thanksgiving is the way of God to release us from anxiety and to receive "the peace of God" (Philippians 4:6-7). In addition to the abo...
