Why do we have to Pray?

Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

One of the most contradictory situations in the Christian faith is that although God knows everything, he wants us to bring all the big and small things in life to him and talk to him. Since he knows everything, why do we still have to pray?

If you have this kind of confusion, perhaps the nineteenth-century preacher Reuben ArcherTorrey can help you to understand. He thinks the reasons for praying are as follows:

Because of the existence of the devil, prayer is a method designated by God to resist the devil (Ephesians 6:12-13,18).

Because prayer is the way that God allows us to ask and seek him (Luke 11:3-13; James 4:2).

Because prayer is the way that God specifically wants us to "receive mercy, favor, and help at any time" (Hebrews 4:16).

Because the prayer of thanksgiving is the way of God to release us from anxiety and to receive "the peace of God" (Philippians 4:6-7).

In addition to the above reasons, it is the Will of God mentioned in (1Thessalonians 5:17) that we "pray without ceasing" because God "expects" us to speak with him. These are all the reasons to pray. Yes, God is indeed omniscient (all-knowing), but He wants to communicate and talk to us. When we pray and seek the Lord, our relationship with God becomes closer. That is the most important reason why we pray.

Prayer is the greatest grace that God bestows on man.

Through prayer, God connects with man, thus man is closer to God.

Our greatest privilege is to talk to God, our Heavenly Father, because we are the previous children of God.

To defeat the 😈
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Ask,seek and receive 🎁
Luke 11:9 "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Receive Mercy, Favour and Help❤️
Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Give thanks, give burden and receive peace✝️🕊️
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
